Crew Management

Petronav Ship Management Ltd (PSL) is focused on recruiting the best possible staff and crew, to ensure the high-performance level of the vessels managed. The training of PSL’s seafarers is a continuous process, both ashore and on-board.

Recognizing the vital importance and contribution of quality personnel to organizations, both at sea and ashore, PSL crewmembers are carefully selected. Prospective applicants are cautiously screened to verify their experience, competence, fitness and comprehension of English prior to enlistment.

Besides Managers’ requirements, the Master and Crew selection process, takes into consideration Owners’ and Operators’ requirements. There is strict adherence to internal Quality Standards & Company Policy, in full compliance with STCW and Flag requirements.

Each candidate undergoes three stages of evaluation and screening through which we assess sea-service, previous company records, references, character, work ethos, and discipline. Following this entire evaluation process, only suitable candidates are selected for work aboard managed vessels.

Crew Training

Before joining a vessel, seafarers are engaged in interactive crew training using a specialized program. Our dedicated team of training instructors conduct and manage vocational programs, in order to maintain a superior level of skills through on-board training, contemporary domain knowledge and technology tutorials. Our fully qualified crew are then able to add tangible value to our clients through highly developed ship management practices.

Trainees

At Petronav, the cadets and trainees gain experience on-board vessels to foster a “hands-on” approach to learning. Mandatory training is also provided through an association of training institutes, providing a comprehensive scenario-based curriculum. This enables us to develop crew teams that are capable of managing a diversified fleet.

Onboard Training

Planned training is carried out on-board the vessels. This provides crew members with an accurate understanding of information technology systems, organizational & management skills, and the creation of a knowledge base regarding safety procedures.

Shore-Based Training

Our shore-based training is derived from the on-board training goals and materials, but is usually intended for crew prior to embarkation on a vessel.
